Mark studied microbiology at the University of Alexandria, Egypt. He obtained his master’s degree in molecular and cellular biosciences from the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. In his PhD project, he is focusing on the IDR-mediated roles of specific germ granule-associated RNA binding proteins in driving germ-line development in the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans.
