Toni Träger obtained his M.Sc. in biochemistry at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg where he structurally analyzed the endogenous ATP-citrate lyase via cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). In his PhD work, he analyzes how disordered regions in 2-keto acid dehydrogenase complexes and other important primary large metabolic complexes mediate catalysis. He uses cryo-EM assisted by computational approaches (molecular dynamics simulations, protein docking via HADDOCK, AlphaFold structure prediction).
