Akash obtained his Master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biosciences from the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. His master’s research focused on the characterization of the type-II secretion system of the plant-pathogenic bacterium Xanthomonas euvesicatoria, with the aim of engineering this system for biotechnological applications and food safety.
For his PhD, he investigates how intrinsically disordered plant proteins contribute to physiological functions. His research focuses on elucidating the role of intrinsically disordered transcription factor ‘JUNGBRUNNEN1’ in the regulation of senescence, particularly in coordination with calcium-dependent protein kinases (CPKs).
