Erik Siefke studied food chemistry at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. In his diploma thesis, he isolated and characterized herbicidal compounds derived from necrotrophic fungi. Erik is currently working on the understanding of the DNA-binding mechanism of the tumor suppressor protein p53 using different mass spectrometric techniques.
