Simon Alberti obtained a PhD in Biology at the University of Bonn, Germany, and conducted research as a postdoc at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in Cambridge, MA, USA. Since 2010 he is group leader at the MPI-MCBG in Dresden and since 2016, honorary professor at the Dresden Technical University, Germany. His research investigates the organization of the cytoplasm across space and time with an emphasis on environmental changes, stress and ageing, which can lead to severe metabolic changes, the formation of protein aggregates and changes in the cells’ content and distribution of membrane-less organelles.
